Under The Weather

It was a rough week for our little Rose. After a great weekend, Christmas parade, and visit with her friend Campbell, we were visited by her first ear infection likely caused by RSV (a virus that hits babies under age 2). I am convinced she picked up some germs at her 18 month wellness checkup when we had to wait at the doctor's office the previous week for nearly 2 hours! Ugggghhh...

Anyway, she is on the upswing as Ryan and I are now sniffling and coughing. It was the first experience with antibiotics, so not bad for nearly 19 months!

Her stats at the doctor were great, although she screamed every time the doctor or nurse came close. She sure has some strong lungs :) Her weight was 24lbs, 2 oz and was 33in tall. She is about average for weight and still in the 90% for height. She is into her 2T and 24 month clothes already.

We are looking forward to the Christmas break and visiting with family and friends.
Stay tuned for some festive holiday pics.

Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving! We have much to be thankful for. It's been a wonderful year filled with many blessings. We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with Grandma H and Uncle Jay on Thursday. We celebrated with Grandma, Grandpa T, Great-Grandma T, Dede, Bob, Ray, PJ, Caitlin, and Jack on Friday. We have discovered Rose LOVES pumpkin pie. She had tons of fun playing with the family. She was also very interested in the Christmas tree and all of the ornaments. It's going to be a great holiday season ahead for us.

Silly Girl

We've had a great week. Rose has been especially silly and cute, which is not very difficult for her :) Here are a few of the entertaining things that she has been up to.

Hi! How are you?
1. Starting with a friendly greeting-Rose has been enjoying using the phrase, "Hi, How are you?" If you ask her how she is doing, she is usually good, great, or fine! Also, she starts the morning with a happy, "Good morning!"

2. Playing with Layla the dog-She can't get enough of handing Layla her toys. She loves to say, "Come here Layla," and runs all over the house playing with her. They are quickly becoming best friends.

Playtime with Layla, lots of giggles
3. Splashing around in the bathtub-She has really been enjoying playing around in the tub. She loves to whisper, "Nose in the water" at the end of bath time and just giggles every time she puts her nose in the water and gets her face wet. It's been tough getting her out of the tub. I think she could play all night.

4. Counting-She is quickly becoming our little mathmetician. Lately, she is counting 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. She goes up to eight but usually misses the three. Regardless, we are very impressed for a 17 month old.

Party time in my play house
5. Helping-She loves helping (or at least thinking she is helping) with any household chore. She loves to sort the laundry,  which entails taking clothes out of the basket and putting them back in, repeatedly. She also helps Grandpa T take in the garbage cans every week.

We also got to meet baby Enzo! Our friends Emily and Paul welcomed a beautiful baby boy on 10/15. Rose and I were certainly smitten. We can't wait to see more of him!!

Rose is on the mend after her first cold this year, which Ryan and I both got too. She is getting back to her usual self, and her voice is returning too. She had a little raspy thing going on for a few days. Thank goodness it was nothing serious.

The Halloween decorations in the house are becoming more familiar. As we climb up the stairs, she must greet all the decorations in the front room. She says, "Hi pumpkins, hi ghost, hi witches."

She is really starting to speak in sentences now, like "Daddy playing the guitar, Mommy drying her hair, Bear is dancing, Layla, get the ring!" She is absolutely fascinated with dogs. She'll hand Layla her toys now and enjoys playing with her. She also loves talking about Sake, the dog at daycare and also Yogi (she calls him Ogi) who belongs to Uncle Ray and Aunt PJ.

She is getting good with her colors. She is also into running all over the house. She'll grab her bear toy or frog and declare them running too. She's in a bouncing phase. She will sit on her ball and bounce and does this to some of her other toys too. She has such positive energy and just loves to play and explore.

Rose is planning to be a duck for Halloween and we are planning to visit a few neighbors house this year. What fun!

We also made it to the cider mill as you can see. GO TIGERS and as Rose would say, Hit the balls!!

Music Machine

We had a great weekend with Rose. We enjoyed the Oktoberfest in Saline, went to the Petting Farm, and celebrated Great Grandma W's birthday. It was lots of fun.

Rose's musical side has been emerging lately. She is singing up a storm and dancing too. We have to limit the spins she makes, or she will fall into everything. I'm afraid she may have inherited her mother's clumsiness.

Here are a few pictures from our weekend.

Hello Fall

What a great summer we had this year! It's hard to believe Fall is already here. We've been keeping busy and Rose has been growing and changing every single day. She started going to daycare a couple days a week and has been enjoying that new adventure. She seems to really enjoy it. We just need to work on more consistent naps. She is not a happy camper when she gets overtired and has started whining a bit more.

Just lounging around on my chair
She is now putting 3-4 words together like, "ride in the car", Mama's coming, "pet the doggie" etc.
She can even sing some of the alphabet song, twinkle twinkle little star, and the itsy bitsy spider.
Yesterday, we caught her reading one of her books to herself out loud. It was so cute!

Our little engineer hard at work
She still loves to be outside. She loves going for walks, playing at the park and running around the backyard. It's going to be tough when the weather takes a turn.

Silly with Daddy
She is really starting to play more independently, as she'll put things in her doll house and toy bus and then take them out, stack her blocks, thumb through books. Her interest in the Dolphin Tale movie seems to be fading a little. Her interest with her bear blanket is growing. Her and bear are best friends. She takes him everywhere!

Talking to the Kewpie doll
We've noticed a new phase of fear that appeared recently. We have a plastic jack o lantern out for Halloween and some Peanuts characters and she does not like them. I had to put them away for now. Everytime she looked over at them she would squeeze me and call for bear to come to the rescue!

Rose is up to 12 teeth already! She has gone through a rougher teething patch with some molars coming in. She's having fun brushing her teeth now, and of course she has to brush bear's teeth too.

Here are a couple pictures of Rose and Molly on the lake. We had a great time visiting and enjoyed a boat ride together. When I ask Rose what she's done during any given day, she still often replies "boat ride with Molly." It must have made one nice impression :)
