Music Machine

We had a great weekend with Rose. We enjoyed the Oktoberfest in Saline, went to the Petting Farm, and celebrated Great Grandma W's birthday. It was lots of fun.

Rose's musical side has been emerging lately. She is singing up a storm and dancing too. We have to limit the spins she makes, or she will fall into everything. I'm afraid she may have inherited her mother's clumsiness.

Here are a few pictures from our weekend.

Hello Fall

What a great summer we had this year! It's hard to believe Fall is already here. We've been keeping busy and Rose has been growing and changing every single day. She started going to daycare a couple days a week and has been enjoying that new adventure. She seems to really enjoy it. We just need to work on more consistent naps. She is not a happy camper when she gets overtired and has started whining a bit more.

Just lounging around on my chair
She is now putting 3-4 words together like, "ride in the car", Mama's coming, "pet the doggie" etc.
She can even sing some of the alphabet song, twinkle twinkle little star, and the itsy bitsy spider.
Yesterday, we caught her reading one of her books to herself out loud. It was so cute!

Our little engineer hard at work
She still loves to be outside. She loves going for walks, playing at the park and running around the backyard. It's going to be tough when the weather takes a turn.

Silly with Daddy
She is really starting to play more independently, as she'll put things in her doll house and toy bus and then take them out, stack her blocks, thumb through books. Her interest in the Dolphin Tale movie seems to be fading a little. Her interest with her bear blanket is growing. Her and bear are best friends. She takes him everywhere!

Talking to the Kewpie doll
We've noticed a new phase of fear that appeared recently. We have a plastic jack o lantern out for Halloween and some Peanuts characters and she does not like them. I had to put them away for now. Everytime she looked over at them she would squeeze me and call for bear to come to the rescue!

Rose is up to 12 teeth already! She has gone through a rougher teething patch with some molars coming in. She's having fun brushing her teeth now, and of course she has to brush bear's teeth too.

Here are a couple pictures of Rose and Molly on the lake. We had a great time visiting and enjoyed a boat ride together. When I ask Rose what she's done during any given day, she still often replies "boat ride with Molly." It must have made one nice impression :)

Up and Down

Fun, fun, fun is what we've been having with Miss Rose! She is starting to string 2-3 words together now, like doggie jumping barking or bye bye mama. She's picking new words up everyday and loves to use them. She's getting 2 more molars on the bottom, which has been causing a little fussiness. I don't blame her, those swollen gums and drooly face doesn't look like fun. She's eating well though, no issues there yet.

She experienced Greenfield Village with Grandpa and Grandma T last week and had lots of fun trying to keep up with cousin Caitlin. She enjoyed going "up and down" on the chicken in the merry go round. She's also become more dependent on her little bear blanket. We have to keep that close. I bought a duplicate just in case something happened to the original. She has also developed a fondness for the "boo boo bunny", which is a plastic ice cube and little bunny when she gets hurt.

We have her 15 month checkup next week. She appears to be doing great and growing so big! Enjoy some of the latest pics.

Here Comes The Sun

The past couple of weeks have been filled with silly moments and lots of smiles. Rose has truly transitioned to a toddler. We've switched her bottles to sippy cups now, except for her bedtime bottle. Her vocabulary continues to amaze us. She has picked up her Dad's singing of the Beatles songs. Her favorite is Here Comes the Sun. We'll catch her playing on the floor saying, "singing, sun, doo, doo." It's adorable! She can also tell you the names and sounds of most animals, and can recognize and repeat shapes. She can fill in most of the words in the book Goodnight Moon. She's sleeping through the night, nearly 11 hours most nights. It's wonderful getting some time back to ourselves!

Just playing around
Drool face
She loves to explore and has recently gotten more interested in climbing on things. She still loves to be outside and run around. Two more teeth are coming in on top, that makes 10 total. She had sleepovers with both grandparents a couple weeks ago. She was a good girl and had lots of fun. There are plenty of toys and attention to spoil her with :) One of her favorite activities with Grandma H is playing with her toy seal and reading her book about the seal. One of her favorite activities with Grandma and Grandpa T is walking down to the creek to look for ducks. We'll be driving there in the morning and as soon as we turn the corner to the neighborhood, she'll enthusiastically say "ducks, ducks!"

Stacking my blocks
Grandma and Grandpa T. took her to the petting farm a couple weeks ago, which she loved! All she talked about was Gracie the cow, the sheep, ducks, goats, chickens, pigs, and fish. The girl has no fear and repeatedly ran through the barn to chase the chickens out. We had to see for ourselves and took her back yesterday. It was hilarious. She had so much fun, and was a non stop little firecracker barreling through the farm with all of that energy and delight. We had a great time.

Hot fun in the summer!

It's been a HOT summer so far and we have been enjoying it. Rose enjoyed her first weekend home alone with Daddy last week, as I enjoyed getting away for my friend Amanda's wedding in Dallas. They had lots of fun and I was so happy to see them both when I got home. Rose has discovered the TV a little more. Her favorite things to watch are "Dolphin", which is the Dolphin Tale movie. We found this on HBO recently and she loves the opening scene with the dolphins swimming around. She also enjoys "Elmo", or the Play with Me Sesame show.

I love the lights from Uncle Ray
I love He-Man too, who knew?

She still loves swinging in the backyard and playing on the slide. We are getting good use out of her play house, water table, kiddie pool, and push car. She also has discovered a love of "creamie", which is code for ice cream! We've treated her with a few spoonfuls and she can't get enough.

Enjoying the beach at Jan's on Loch Erin

Beach Baby
Her personality is really shining. She is a silly, happy, busy girl. She is very verbal and curious. Some of her new words include climbing (for going up the stairs), swimming (for the obvious), kisses, "no no" as she is starting to hear this more. She is even starting to tell us when she is sleepy or messes her diaper. What a smart kiddo!

Celebrate!

 l love Daddy!!
It's been an exciting week. We celebrated Ryan's birthday and Father's Day over the last week. Rose has continued her non-stop action. We are spending time outside every day (weather permitting) and playing with many of her new toys from her birthday. Some new words include "mick" for music, "no, no" for no, ""abby" in reference to her shoes since the character Abby Cadabby is on them, "more" for more food, "crab", "keys",  "barbie", "swimming", "climbing" and "kiss". She has started giving us kisses, which is the cutest thing ever!!

May I help you?
